Islamic vs. Conventional Equity Markets: A Multifractal Cross-Correlation Analysis with Economic Policy Uncertainty

چکیده
There is ample evidence that Islamic stock markets perform differently from conventional markets, particularly when economic policy uncertainty (EPU) or any other such as geopolitical present. Considering this context, paper examines the US EPU’s cross-correlation with both and perspective of multifractality. Daily market prices five main countries are considered: US, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan, India. Using multifractal detrended analysis (MF-DCCA), we validate existence long-range between EPU all considered, demonstrating pairs have strong power law characteristics. Furthermore, display varying levels strength, exhibiting strongest patterns. Additionally, a different found to be persistent. The results study pertinent various participants in investors, who may able draw useful conclusions them for purposes portfolio diversification.

Multifractal cross-correlation spectra analysis on Chinese stock markets
In this paper, the long-range cross-correlation of Chinese stock indices is systematically studied. The multifractal detrended cross-correlation analysis (MF-DXA) appears to be one of the most effective methods in detecting long-range cross-correlation of two non-stationary variables. The Legendre spectrum and the large deviations spectrum are extended to the cross-correlation case, so as to pr...
متن کاملEconomic Determinants of the Correlation Structure Across International Equity Markets
This study investigates whether, how, and why the matrix of correlations across international equity markets changes over time. A theoretical model is proposed to specify potential economic determinants of this correlation structure. The empirical validity of this economic model is investigated by employing daily returns for different national stock indexes, from 1972 through 1993, to construct...

In this paper, we investigate the multiscale cross-correlations between electricity price and trading volume in Czech market based on a newly developed algorithm, called Multifractal Cross-Correlation Analysis (MFCCA). The new algorithm is a natural multifractal generalization of the Detrended Cross-Correlation Analysis (DCCA), and is sensitive to cross-correlation structure and free from limit...
متن کاملEmerging Equity Markets and Economic Development
We provide an analysis of real economic growth prospects in emerging markets after ̄nancial liberalizations. We identify the ̄nancial liberalization dates and examine the in°uence of liberalizations while controlling for a number of other macroeconomic and ̄nancial variables. Our work also introduces an econometric methodology that allows us to use extensive time-series as well as cross-sectional...
متن کاملExtreme Correlation of International Equity Markets
Testing the hypothesis that international equity market correlation increases in volatile times is a difficult exercise and misleading results have often been reported in the past because of a spurious relationship between correlation and volatility. Using “extreme value theory” to model the multivariate distribution tails, we derive the distribution of extreme correlation for a wide class of r...
